Who is Sophia Rose?

We started the work on our beautiful lace, pocketed, mastectomy bra in 2012 when our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. After her bilateral mastectomy, we went on many unsuccessful shopping trips to find her pocketed bras that she would love and enjoy wearing with her prosthesis. We searched in stores and online, quickly realizing that there were very few mastectomy bra options in the market, and almost everything we saw looked plain, utilitarian or dated. More importantly, they were uncomfortable to wear.

We could not accept that something so important was so lacking. So we created Sophia Rose Intimates to bring style, comfort, quality, and fun back to intimate apparel shopping for breast cancer survivors. We have spent hundreds of hours brainstorming, researching, developing, designing, drawing, fitting and sourcing the right materials to perfect the construction and fit of each Sophia Rose piece.

So, is Sophia Rose our mom’s name? It’s a good guess, but nope! Our mom was our biggest inspiration, but she wasn’t the only woman we had in mind when creating our intimates brand. We know that breast cancer survivors everywhere are yearning for a comfortable, supportive, and elegant bra with a matching panty set to wear. 

So, if she isn’t our mom, and she isn’t us, who is Sophia Rose? Sophia Rose is the woman that represents the values and attributes we see in our customers. She is the woman that survived breast cancer, and is now thriving. She is loving to others, and loved by others. She is strong and courageous, yet vulnerable and sincere. She is not swayed by trends and stays true to her own beauty. She finds elegance in daily tasks. She shares her joy and welcomes support.
